The new strain of Covid in UK is more lethal according to Boris Johnson. And, it is a cause for concern indeed. How did the virus get mutated? England is a pretty cold place, innit? It could be that the conditions there were just more conducive for mutation. Heaven knows, how nature works. However, the good news is that existing vaccines maybe equally effective against prevention of this more lethal variant of the virus. Already more than 5 million people have been vaccinated in UK. And India has just gotten started on its own vaccination programme.
Stubborn Farmers.
The Union Government has offered to suspend the operation of Farm laws for eighteen months. The farm unions have rejected it. It seems they will not accept anything less than the full repeal of the farm laws which they see as pro-corporate and anti-farmer. They apprehend that the new farm laws introduced are unconstitutional as the agriculture is the state subject. I wonder why do these pig-headed “farmers” not agitate their grievances before Constitutional courts?
Strained Relationship?
Christopher Nolan is unhappy with the suits of Warner Brothers it seems. Christopher Nolan is a very passionate auteur and is a big votary of the “theater experience,” kind of like Tom Cruise. He has had a longstanding relationship with Warner Brothers. He has worked as a director for many movies under the WB banner such as “The Dark Knight”, “Inception”, and “Dunkirk” to name a few. However, WB because of the pandemic, has decided to release all the movies in its 2021 calendar simultaneously in its relatively new streaming platform called HBOMAX. This move of WB has been criticized by many other notable filmmakers such as Dennis Villeneuve apart from Nolan. Nolan might be walking away from the WB environs and maybe pitching his tent in another studio who will guarantee him a theatrical release for all his movies. I hope Sony manages to land Christopher Nolan who I believe has many good productive years ahead of him as a filmmaker. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was a very good acquisition for Sony after Tarantino ended his relationship with the The Weinstein Company after the whole Harvey Weinstein scandal.
